IP Address Converter
This free IP to hex converter transforms IPv4 addresses into their hexadecimal form and back again. An IPv4 address is really just four bytes, which makes it a perfect fit for hex notation — and this is exactly the format you see in raw network captures.
How to Convert an IP Address to Hex
An IPv4 address like 192.168.1.1 is composed of four numbers, each ranging from 0 to 255. Since every one of those numbers fits in a single byte, you can write each octet as two hex digits and combine them into one continuous hex value.
Converting 192.168.1.1 gives you C0 A8 01 01, or 0xC0A80101 as a single value. This IP to hex converter performs that translation automatically, padding each octet with a leading zero where needed.
- Split the IP address into its four octets.
- Convert each octet to its two-digit hex form.
- Concatenate the four hex pairs into a single value.
- Optionally prefix the result with 0x.
Why Convert IP to Hex?
Network engineers and security analysts often see IP addresses rendered in hex inside packet dumps, firewall rules, or encoded network data. The classic address 192.168.1.1 appears as 0xC0A80101 in low-level tooling.
This converter also works in reverse, letting you read a hex-encoded address and instantly know the dotted-decimal equivalent — handy when inspecting logs that store addresses in compressed form.
