UUID Generator

This free UUID generator creates RFC 4122 compliant version 4 (random) UUIDs in your browser. Every identifier shown is a 128-bit value written in the standard 8-4-4-4-12 dashed format, with a companion contiguous hex representation for developers who need the raw bytes.

What Is a UUID?

A UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is a 128-bit number used to identify information in computer systems without central coordination. The standard format groups the 32 hex digits into five sections separated by dashes, such as 123e4567-e89b-12d3-a456-426614174000.

Version 4 UUIDs are the most common type: all bits except for the version and variant fields are generated randomly, which is exactly how this UUID generator produces each identifier using secure browser randomness.

  • Choose how many UUIDs you need, up to 100 at once.
  • Generate a fresh batch of version 4 identifiers.
  • Each UUID displays with its contiguous hex equivalent.
  • Copy one or all identifiers for use in your project.

UUIDs and Hexadecimal

Because a UUID is fundamentally a 128-bit hexadecimal value, understanding hex helps you read them. The two most significant bits of a v4 UUID encode the variant, and the version field is marked by the digit 4 in the third group — the same 4 you see in every identifier this generator produces.

Use this UUID generator for database keys, request IDs, test fixtures, or anywhere you need collision-resistant identifiers without waiting on a server.
